Blogger SingleChristianMan offers the following advice to Christian women:
Well, single sisters, you know the pickle you are in given the disparities in numbers. I suggest you do something about it.
I give permission for all to widely distribute this prayer, written as a poem as a mnemonic device. Do something beyond virally distributing this across the Internet to all your readers: Actually pray.
For Them (The Prayer for Single Christian Men)
Father, for our brother’s sakes, we ask of you
that you would open the eyes of their hearts, to see
Your leadership, wisdom, and love; and a true
picture of their sonship. Help them be always free
of the love of this world, and to have courage. Soothe
the wounds of this world and the church on them.
Come against their sin with your Shepherd’s love,
Your rod of correction. Cut and polish the gems.
Bring Your staff against their enemies. Reconcile
their questions. Give danger and keep them safe,
teach them Your ways of war and peace; defile
the plans of the accuser. Give power from above
as they wait on You, and bring them back from exile.
We accept them as Your sons and as His brothers.
Amen.

Thanks for this, Learner. We all will be in better balance -- single men and women alike who are believers - when their are more single men actively seeking Him.
Ooops! when "there are more.."
You are welcome SXM :)
I love it. It would be great if we would pray for each other the way that we ought to. :)
Amen. It reminds me a bit of some of the songs of Rebecca St. James, praying for her future husband. OK, so that is a little romantic for me, but I appreciate the love in both.
Trey
Good stuff there. Dudes could prolly pray for the gals in this way too.
Also the above prayer is somewhat similar to the prayers I say over S1, S2, and especially S3 for their future mates.
Thanks for stopping by to comment TMink!
Amen to that Savvy!
EW,
That is great that you pray for your sons' future mates.
Perhaps praying for eachother (women for men and men for women) will help us better understand the issues facing our opposite sex.
I pray that God's will for our lives will be fulfilled, because male and female, He created us to reflect aspects of Himself; we are all created in His image. It is truly sad when we let external issues control that; whether it's the pressure to "just find someone and get married because it's Biblical" or the pressure to "just get your degree and establish your career before you consider marriage because it's practical," we all need to remember that our times are in God's hands, and as long as we keep our minds and hearts open to His guidance, we will be living in His will, whether that means marriage, singleness, the mission field, or a career.
The Librarian,
Agreed, but it is so easy to get caught upo in the things that don't matter, isn't it?
