Gratzos :)

But, seriously. It's nice to a see a comeback like that one. The Pens' defensemen were crazy serious in games 6 and 7, and as the saying goes, good defense beats good (even great like DET) offense.

Good show!

Happy for you, Learner.

Glad something brightened your day/week/year, as the case may be.

Congrats! And even after spotting the Wings two games and completely rolling over in Game 5. I figured Detroit had it since neither team had figured out how to win on the opponent's ice yet...an impressive comeback indeed.

Before the series started I remember the Islanders defeating the Oilers in 83. They had a rematch n 84 and Edmonton won it. Pittsburgh like Edmonton matured over the year and learned from their mistakes. The Penguins from 08 never would have come back being down 3 games to 2. Hossa must feel like he's in a bad dream. But I don't feel sorry for him. He didn't lose his job, he's a millionaire, and he's got a shot at it next year. congrats. Pens.-Norm

Thank you gentlemen :)

Nova- It was an exciting series. After the game 5 shutout I thought it was over. Pittsburgh sports fans are quite fond of good defense :)

SA- Thanks, it was a bright spot in a difficult week. My 82 year old mom broke her leg last weekend and is not allowed to put any weight at all on it for 6 weeks. She used a walker before this because she had a stroke/brain bleed 4 years ago so she is unable to hop. So we had to place her in a nursing home until she can walk again because she cannot move herself and my elderly father can't help her enough for it to be safe for her to be at home. Thankfully it is a much nicer place than she was in at the end of last year.

Jesse- I know, it looked pretty bleak there. I was worried I was going to be eating my words ;)

Norm- It was great to see the Pens regain their composure after that ugly game 5 loss. I agree- last year that would not have happened. I don't feel sorry for Hossa either!

By the way....

The last major league sports team (MLB, NBA, NHL) to win a Game 7 on the road to win the championship: the 1979 "We are family" Pittsburgh Pirates.

MS,

I think they mentioned that bit about the '79 Pirates during the game last night :) My aunt used to have season tickets to the Pirates and both my sister and I were privileged to get to attend a World Series game that year. That was also the year the Steelers won a SuperBowl (I think their 3rd) and Pittsburgh was the "City of Champions"

At least an Eastern Conference team won it! I wasn't happy when the Devils got bounced though. At least they're in it every year...
